In partnership with Accessible Belper, this year will see the first steps on a journey that will bring accessibility to events for as many people as possible.
Belper Arts Festival is fully committed to being an accessible venue for all of our audiences, and is committed to reducing barriers to access the arts and creativity for those who may need more support or assistance when attending an event. Patrons are encouraged to mention accessibility requirements when booking tickets – we are flexible and will do our best to meet all requirements.
Since it’s inception Belper Arts Festival has been community based with a philosophy of inclusivity not exclusivity. It is at the heart of a Festival that is built on encouragement. Now new ambitions are coming to the fore.
The Essential Companion Scheme. We offer free tickets for events for those who need someone with them to assist with mobility or guidance. An Essential Companion is someone who is able to assist a disabled customer with mobility or guidance, and to ensure their safety and enjoyment of Belper Arts Festival events.
Dementia Awareness Week. Plans are under way to feature a series of events during and around Dementia Awareness Week. At this stage these include film, music and dance. Work is underway on other projects and details of these will appear on belperartsfestival.org, in the local press and venues.
3A is a long term project that will develop during the next twelve months. Belper Arts Festival will be listening to Accessible Belper and its partners to build ‘Access All Arts’ and make the Festival a festival for everyone.
